To get the new year off to a good start, I headed off to Boston to visit two new customer installations. Those of us weathering the winter months can appreciate this photo of a residential street in Boston, where so far this year they've received more snow than we have here in Grand Rapids.
I truly enjoy the opportunity to see our product "in action" and wish that I could do it more often. Every trip becomes a learning experience. This trip was especially exciting as one customer had just recently installed custom wine cabinetry that we designed and manufactured for them. Read more below.

On Location: Wine Cabinets
New: KD Orchard Bins
Display fixtures for wine stores often require a degree of customization. Each store seems to bring its own unique design parameters and challenges, and wall-based cabinets must fit to the linear and height dimensions of the actual retail space. We pride ourselves on creating the best solutions for our customers -- and in the case (no pun intended) of wine fixtures, this often means modifying our standard products. One of our Boston-based customers presented a typical example. They liked our refrigerated wine cabinets and built-in wrap-around units but they had to be built for specific configurations and sizes to fit within their existing space. No problem. CMS engineers quickly re-designed "take-off" product variations using our CAD software, the resulting manufacturing specs hit the floor and we were off and running.

New: KD Orchard Bins
Shipping has a large impact on product cost -- and is something we are constantly reviewing and striving for better efficiency. Our new KD Orchard Bins directly address this issue. These bins are an easy-to-assemble option for customers who desire the same high-quality design and functionality found throughout our Orchard Bin line but at lower cost.
We have designed the first set of products within our Orchard Bin line to be packaged and shipped knockdown. KD products reduce our cost to ship and we pass this savings directly to you. Another benefit is that we can efficiently inventory these products which means they can be quickly delivered to your store. The end result to you is a quick ship, high quality, flexible CMS Orchard Bin that can be utilized practically anywhere and comes at a lower cost. Options on our KD products will be limited but they will be available in all of our standard wood stains. You'll soon find these new bins supported as standard product on our website.
